Affective particles: Quasi-random scatterings is a the project’s last stop for this year, in a formula adapted to the current pandemic context.
It is an invitation to experiment and play in the changing environment of probabilities, light and (un)observed particles, using silver-based holography and contemporary dance, video and optical contraptions.
The working concepts are rooted in quantum physics, centred on the notion of superposition – the observed behaviour of studied systems to simultaneously manifest disjoint states. This concept is extrapolated into an immersive installation, a joint work signed by me as artistic co-direction in collab with Andrei Tudose, respectively holography, video and optical play, Irina Marinescu as choreographer & performer and Alexandros Raptis, music composition. We worked alongside Drd. Vlad Toma and Dr. Marian Zamfirescu, researchers from the Center for Advanced Laser Technologies – CETAL, within the National Institute for the Physics of Lasers, Plasma and Radiation, who contributed both to theoretical research and through direct support for technical testing and production holograms.
The project was developed with support from Qolony – the Art & Science Colony and Administration of the National Cultural Fund (AFCN), in partnership with the National Institute for Laser, Plasma and Radiation Physics (INFLPR), The National Center for Dance Bucharest – CNDB, VAGon – in(ter)disciplined space, Simultan Association.
Qolony – the Art & Science Colony is a cultural organization from Bucharest, which functions as a generator of links between art, science, and technology, through events and projects such as artistic residencies, exhibitions, conferences, artist / scientist talks, research and artistic creation.
The National Institute for Laser, Plasma and Radiation Physics (INFLPR) conducts fundamental and applied research in the field of lasers, the interaction of light with matter, plasma and electron accelerators.
Invitro is a bicephalous organism, exhibiting two equally operational brains, in Bucharest and Cluj-Napoca.
